I AM A BEGGINER MECHANIC 1 YEAR COLLEGE BUT I NEED A GOOD STARTER CAR TO WORK ON WHAT IS THE BEST/CHEPEST KIND

I have had most cars as well as trucks in my hold up though we wish a overhauler which i can do in my back yard upon a weekends etc. we dont wish to outlay over 1,000 $ upon a pretension any genuine great suggestions from mechanics ?

    Older cars (pre 72) would be better.
    Look for the one with the best body for the buck.
    If you want to over-haul the car, don’t plan on driving it as machine work on an engine can take weeks to have done properly.
