That’s a lot of work for that amount of money, sounds fair to me. Personally I would never put that much money into a car that old, but if it’s worth it to you, then that’s fair for that amount of work I would think.

I would also look into buying a used ‘long’ block engine with 50,000 to 100,000 miles on it, and dropping it in. It may be cheaper that way. Some junk yards may have one. That’s what I did with a 1990 Mitsubishi — it still runs good (we sold it to our neighbors and they still use it everyday).
