   This book is valuable for a first time filmmaker or a seasoned vet. I have no doubt that Rossi’s insightful techniques were key to my films getting funded. Look no further for a documentary fundraising trailer resource. Simply said, Rossi is a story structure genius.

   This book is full of useful info. If you get a chance to take one of her weekend classes, you won’t be disappointed.

   This is one of the most compassionate and insightful books for those who are possessed by the subject of their doc but don’t know how to structure it or express that structure to others. It asks the right questions and takes the filmmaker on an inner journey to uncover their working style and avoid the pitfalls of procrastination. Not the technical book the name would suggest. A very organic, but methodical, process of self-discovery is what Rossi provokes, in order to make you understand just what it is you want your film to express to the audience–and to potential funders.

   While I’m sure the author had good intentions, I was disappointed in this book. It had only a couple of pages on the topic of structuring an effective fundraising trailer. The rest of the book contained advice for the budding filmmaker about organization, discipline, hurdles, etc. I was tempted to ask for my money back.
